The initial concern

A hailstorm hit more than just the roof

A hailstorm moved through this Colorado Springs neighborhood and left significant damage behind — not just to the roof, but to the home's gutters, exterior painting, and windows. The homeowner contacted us after the storm to assess what the hail had actually done.

What our inspection found

Damage across the full exterior

Our inspection confirmed hail damage across the full exterior: the roof, the gutters, the windows, and the siding all showed storm damage. This is a common pattern in Front Range hailstorms — hail rarely damages only the roof, and a thorough inspection looks at the whole exterior so nothing is missed when a claim is filed.

What we recommended and why

One coordinated exterior restoration

Because the damage extended across the entire exterior, we recommended the homeowner file an insurance claim for a complete exterior restoration rather than piecemeal repairs. Documenting all the damage together gives the insurer the full picture and lets the restoration be handled as one coordinated project.

Scope of work

Roof, gutters, windows, and paint

Pella Windows

Like-for-like custom replacement

  • Replaced the quality custom windows lost to the storm
  • Matched the craftsmanship of the originals
  • Installed with on-site scaffolding for safe access
The challenge

Getting the windows paid fairly

The most difficult part of this project wasn't the construction — it was the insurance scope on the windows. The insurer's initial payment position would have drastically underpaid for the windows, which wouldn't have covered replacing the quality custom windows the home actually had.

Our supplementing team documented why the homeowner needed the additional amount — showing the insurer what was actually there before the storm and what it genuinely costs to replace like-for-like. That back-and-forth between the Promise Keepers team and the insurance company took about six weeks, and it resulted in a scope that reflected the home's real windows.

~6 weeks of supplementing

This is what insurance supplementing looks like in practice: we document and advocate with evidence, and the insurer makes the coverage decisions.

Timeline

How the project came together

2 days

Tear-off, RhinoRoof U20 synthetic underlayment, and new Tamko StormFighter FLEX® Class 4 shingles installed with new gutters.

In the customer's words
"From the first meeting, it was clear that Promise Keepers Restoration is in the business to serve you and take care of your needs, wants, and dream projects. I started working with them after a hail storm hit my neighborhood and damaged my roof, gutters, and windows. They expertly transacted with my insurance company and completed the repair/replacement work faster than most of the other contractors doing work in the neighborhood…and it looks fabulous! I then continued working with PK Rest on painting the exterior of my house a different color, a wish list item that I have dreamed of doing for many years. Throughout the projects Peter and Mason went above and beyond my expectations. They listen to your requests, guide the process, and provide knowledgeable feedback when decisions are on the table. In all aspects, whether it was insurance details, project planning, challenges, or work by the crews, they were transparent and successful, executing with speed and wisdom. You can trust Promise Keepers Restoration. I'm so thankful that I found them. You'll never need to find another contractor!"
